UK Buses

TTerms

Terms of use

The agreement between you and Rouic Ltd when you use UK Buses, on the web or in the app. It's short; please read it.

Updated 25 October 2026

01About these terms

UK Buses (ukbuses.app and the UK Buses app for iPhone) is provided by Rouic Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (number 09953644), whose registered office is Sigma House, Oak View Close, Edginswell Park, Torquay TQ2 7FF ("we", "us"). By using it you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

How we handle personal data is explained in the privacy policy.

02The service

UK Buses is free. It shows where buses are, when they are expected, timetables, disruptions and how reliably buses run, for the towns and cities people choose, and in the iPhone app it can show your next bus on your Lock Screen.

We may change, add to or remove parts of the service, and we may stop it altogether. If we stop it, we'll give notice on the website and in the app where we reasonably can.

03Times are predictions

Live positions come from bus operators through the Bus Open Data Service, and timetables from operators' published data. Arrival times are our predictions, worked out from those positions, the timetable and how buses have run before. They can be wrong: buses can run early, late or not at all, may not report where they are, and the data can be late, missing or mistaken. A town or city chosen for the first time takes a little while to get ready.

Live events and widgets depend on Apple's push service, your iPhone's settings and a connection, so a countdown may not appear, may stop updating, or may be out of date.

Please leave yourself time, and check with the operator before relying on UK Buses for anything that matters, like the last bus home.

04Not an operator, and not official

UK Buses is independent. It isn't made, endorsed or sponsored by any bus operator, the Department for Transport or the Bus Open Data Service. Operators' names, route numbers and colours belong to them and are shown only to identify their services.

05The data and its licence

Bus information comes from the Bus Open Data Service and contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. If you want the data itself, get it from the Bus Open Data Service under that licence, rather than from UK Buses.

The website's map is © OpenStreetMap contributors, through OpenFreeMap and OpenMapTiles; the app's maps are Apple's.

06Your account

You don't need an account. If you make one, you must be 13 or over, give a real email address, and keep your password to yourself; you're responsible for what happens under your account. You can delete it at any time (Account → Delete account on the website).

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or that puts the service or other people at risk.

07Using it fairly

  • Use UK Buses for your own, personal, non-commercial use.
  • Don't scrape, harvest or download our data or predictions in bulk, or use automated tools to do so; the bus data itself is available from the Bus Open Data Service.
  • Don't try to break, overload or get around the security of the service, or get at accounts or data that aren't yours.
  • Don't use it for anything unlawful or in a way that harms other people, and don't present its predictions as an operator's official information.
  • Don't use it while you're driving.

08What's ours

The UK Buses software, design, name and logo belong to Rouic Ltd. You may use them only as part of using the service. The iPhone app is licensed to you under Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, alongside these terms.

09Our responsibility to you

UK Buses is free and provided "as is". As far as the law allows, we don't promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted, accurate or free of errors, and we aren't responsible for any loss that comes from relying on its times, predictions or live events (a missed bus, connection or appointment, or a taxi you had to take instead), or from the service being unavailable.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited by law, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

10Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We'll change the date above and, for significant changes, let you know on the website and in the app. If you carry on using UK Buses after a change, the new terms apply.

11The law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
